I have decided to stop heading the same direction this site has been going for the past ... 22 years or so ... And will no longer be providing a place for the previous platform in which was taking place before. Instead has not been decided if to use this site again for anything or just have it as a placeholder for memories of old friends and family from the long ARW Past. Keep checking in though, you never know when we decide to pop up again fresh and new

I have come back around to the idea of Bitcoin, a few dollar's worth of which I need for a special payment. What a pain in the ass!
I am setting up an account with Coinbase. I thought the whole idea of BTC and other cryptocurrency was confidentiality and privacy. WRONG!
To set up the account, I had to give them my real name and address.
Then, to fund the account, I had to give them my bank account info, including acct number. That allowed me to transfer $50 from my bank to my BTC account, less a couple of percent processing fee.
OK, but I can't sent BTC to others, making the acct worthless. To send BTC, I have to upload photos of my driver's license.
Doing this qualifies me to send 69 cents of the $50 I deposited. TO send more, I have to wait... a week, maybe??? For what? Until Jupiter is aligned with Mars?
WTF? Where is the anonymity? Where is the convenience? I could have gone into a grocery store here and bought a $25 "gift card" for cash, no ID required, in about 5 minutes.
I am really disillusioned about the whole BTC thing. It is all bullshit, so far.
Maybe I'm missing something. If so, feel free to enlighten me...

This should be news... but I can't start a topic in NEWS. Is that intentional? ================ A Massive Leak of Nintendo Source Code Is Causing Chaos in Video Gamers The leak unearthed new revelations about classic games like 'Super Mario 64,' and caused a split amongst preservationists about what to do with likely stolen material. The gigaleak. That’s the name retro enthusiast and amateur game developer Cosmo came up with when they realized the trove of secrets that had leaked out of Nintendo last week, which have dominated gaming’s attention ever since. Source code for games like F-Zero and Link to the Past. A full development history of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Prototypes for Super Mario Kart and Yoshi’s Island, which Nintendo called Super Mario Bros. 5: Yoshi’s Island at some point. A cache of emails from Argonaut Software, co-developers of Star Fox. It’s a massive and historically unprecedented look at the creative process of a company that, like Apple, prides itself on secrecy. It was also most likely stolen, and thus represents an invasion of privacy that has fans and preservationists confused on how to view the material... [Stolen? STOLEN? Oh, say it ain't so, hackers STEALING data! {BD} ] On Friday afternoon, an anonymous 4chan user posted a link to several files hosted on anonfiles, a service for people to share material without fear it’ll get linked back to them. Even in the rough and tumble world of 4chan, people were hesitant to see what they were... More: You are not allowed to view links.

Scientific predictions of what will happen -- infections, fatalities, etc. -- with various types of responses from "do nothing" to "Wuhan-style lock-down." Projections are for the USA, on a state-by-state basis. Scary parts: (1) Social distancing SLOWS the spread by a few months, but doesn't stop it. You still reach HUGE losses, it just takes longer. (2) Some places, like New York, are ALREADY past the point of no return. It is probably to late to stop or even slow the carnage. Check it out: 5 post minimum to see code tags!AND: A short YouTube video on how the virus attacks the body. References listed. Worth a watch. AND: An interview with a doctor/medical researcher who led the fight to eradicate Smallpox: 5 post minimum to see code tags!Consensus: If we don't take drastic measures soon, we are fucked. And it may already be too late and we may be fucked anyway.
